Programmable AC power sources generate a controlled AC supply with adjustable voltage, frequency and waveform, so that equipment can be tested against grid conditions it will not encounter on a normal bench outlet.

Output power and voltage range are the starting point, but the reason most buyers need a programmable source is the ability to simulate specific conditions: nominal voltages of other regions, frequency changes for aerospace and marine work, sags, surges and harmonic distortion for immunity testing.
