Light and Sound Measurements

Light and sound instruments measure illuminance and noise level, both commonly required for workplace compliance and environmental surveys.

Extech and Keysight cover this range. Light meters should be cosine and colour corrected, since an uncorrected sensor misreads under LED and discharge lighting, which now dominates. For sound level meters, the class rating determines whether a reading is defensible: Class 1 is expected for compliance and legal work while Class 2 suits general survey. Confirm the frequency weighting and time weighting you need, and whether a calibrator is included, as a sound level meter must be field-checked before and after a measurement.
