Loop Calibrators

Loop calibrators source and measure the 4-20 mA current loop signals that carry most process measurements between the field and the control system.

Druck, PIE, Ashcroft and Fluke cover this range. The functions that matter are sourcing a precise current to drive an indicator or valve, measuring loop current without breaking the circuit, and simulating a transmitter so the loop can be exercised from the field. Many units also supply 24 V loop power, which removes the need for a separate supply during bench work. Check whether you need intrinsically safe certification for classified areas, and whether HART communication is required alongside the analog signal.
