Deadweight Testers
Deadweight testers generate pressure by loading calibrated masses onto a piston of known area, producing a pressure derived from first principles rather than from an electronic sensor.
Fluke, Ametek, DH-Budenberg and Ashcroft cover this range. Because the output depends on mass, local gravity and piston area, a deadweight tester holds its accuracy over long periods and is normally the primary reference at the top of a pressure calibration hierarchy. Specify whether the work is pneumatic or hydraulic, since the piston and fluid systems differ, and state the local gravity value at the site so the mass set can be corrected. Confirm the accuracy class you need against the instruments you will calibrate.
