OIML Calibration Weights

OIML calibration weights are certified mass standards used to verify and adjust balances and scales, supplied individually or as graduated sets.

Accuracy class is the specification that matters, and it should be selected relative to the balance being checked rather than chosen for its own sake: a class that is too coarse cannot verify the instrument, while an unnecessarily fine class adds cost and demands more careful handling and storage. Material and finish affect long-term stability, and stainless steel is standard for the finer classes. Weights should be handled with forceps or gloves and stored in their case, since fingerprints and corrosion change mass at the levels these standards certify.
