Because the result depends on the drying profile as much as on the balance, the specifications that matter are heater type, temperature control and the endpoint criterion, whether time-based or automatic on rate of change. Halogen heaters reach temperature faster than infrared, which shortens the cycle. Sample presentation matters greatly: a thin even layer on the pan dries reproducibly while a heaped sample does not.
