Power Clamp-ons

Power clamp meters measure real power, power factor and energy by reading current with a clamp and voltage through test leads at the same time.

Extech and Fluke cover this range. This is the distinction from an ordinary clamp meter, which reads current only and cannot tell you how much of it is doing useful work. Phase sequence and rotation indication are useful additions for three-phase installations. True RMS measurement is essential on any circuit with electronic loads. Confirm jaw opening against the conductors involved and the safety category rating for the panel you will be working in.
